About Me

My name is Jenna Armstrong, I am 18 years old, and I was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. This is my second semester at FSU and i am a Political Science major with a minor in education. I aspire to be a lobbyist for education in the future because it is something i love to talk about and i am very passionate about doing what is best for our education system. Although this is a decision i have just recently made, it has been in the back of my mind for a very long time and my EDF1005 class showed me that i love to talk about teaching, but maybe not be there in the line of fire.

My high school wasn't all too reliant on technology, although we did have a few days where they would bring in very cheap laptops for us to do some work on (and the occasional trip to the media center when needed). As for my teachers, they always use their computers, projectors, and powerpoints in order to deliver successful lessons. When i had homework in my AP english classes is when i started to really use word almost everyday and get comfortable with it. As for elementary school, we had an optional computer class that i loved to go to and me and my friends would just make funny powerpoints.

In this class, i hope to learn even more about Word and Microsoft office (it gets really confusing sometimes) so that i can fully use the software to my advantage in the most efficient way. Teaching has always been a career option in my mind and that still stands, so if i do fulfill that role, then i will be able to deliver lessons successfully in a world that revolves so heavily around technology for learning. Even if i don't become a teacher this will still broaden my knowledge for everyday skills that will help me in college. Finally, as a lobbyist it would be best to be well-versed in the career that i am fighting for and to be fully aware of the lengths that teachers go to in order to teach their students.

  2. Hi Jenna! I totally agree with you that skills like how to use Word or Microsoft are so important to have and are not only useful if you want to become a teacher but can help you in your everyday life. I'm also often confused by it, but I'm sure once someone shows you some tricks it will be super easy afterwards!

  3. Hi Jenna! That's awesome that you found something that you are so passionate about! My EDF 1005 class also helped me discover what I would like to do in the future, it's a really great class. I find it so interesting that you want to become a lobbyist for education, that's a cool job! I also agree with you that Word gets confusing at times. I remember having to look up tutorials on how to create hanging indents and other things I had no clue how to do. Hopefully we'll learn some useful tips in this class for using Word!
